Problem Note 33463: Blanks might be appended to data exported as .xls using SASĀ® Enterprise Guide
Exporting a SAS table as a Microsoft Excel file (.xls) using SAS Enterprise Guide might cause the resulting data to have blanks appended to the end. For example, if the length of a column is 50 in a SAS table, but the longest data value for that column is only 10, then, when the file is exported as a .xls file and opened in Microsoft Excel, the data will have 40 blanks appended to the end.
To circumvent the problem, export the data from SAS Enterprise Guide as a .csv file, then open the .csv file using Microsoft Excel.
